Curriculum Vitae Files 1960-1991.

This series consists of almost five hundred curriculum vitae of UAB administrators and faculty members. These files are arranged alphabetically by surname. The are the c.v. of inactive faculty and staff. The Office originally maintained these files for informational purposes. In addition to c.v., the files often contain press releases or news clippings about an individual. These files provide summary biographical and professional information including birth dates, educational backgrounds, professional experiences, and scholarly activities. Photographs originally in the files were removed for preservation purposes and form artificial series P7.2.1.

The Office of Media Relations was created in 1990, but its origin may be traced to the 1960s. During the 1960s, Fred Woodress served as assistant to the vice president for health affairs for public relations. Dentist, dean, university vice president, university president Dr. Joseph F. Volker was born in Elizabeth, New Jersey, in 1913. He earned a D.M.D. degree from Indiana University and an A.B., M.S. and Ph. D., from the University of Rochester.
